The OEA organizes and presents many high quality events throughout the year, all aimed at adding value for members by creating specific opportunities to:
Most OEA events are also open to non-members, allowing an even broader network of business and energy stakeholders to participate, share information, do business and forge relationships. In addition to the networking advantage, members benefit through lower registration fees, first access to sponsorships and the opportunity to provide input into the planning of OEA events.
OEA BREAKFAST SPEAKERS SERIES
The OEA’s increasingly popular Breakfast Speakers Series features approximately 9-10 keynote speakers a year. Participants have the opportunity to network and hear from leaders in the industry, the broader business community, government and government agencies - all in the span of an hour and a half at the start of the day at the Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Toronto. Watch the Events Page on the OEA website for upcoming speakers.
OEA ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The 2009 OEA Annual Conference will take place on September 16-17. Additional details will be announced on the OEA website in early 2009. Please contact Steve Scott (sscott@energyontario.ca) for sponsorship opportunities.
The 2008 Annual Conference was held on September 17-18 at the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel and Conference Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario. According to feedback from delegates who attended this event, it was one of the OEA's best conferences.

INDUSTRY LEADERS' ROUNDTABLE
The OEA brought together 160 attendees at the 4th Industry Leaders' Roundtable on April 30, 2009 in Toronto. It was a high-level policy-oriented event with speakers and perspectives from across the country and outside our industry. This popular event will be presented again in 2010. Watch the OEA website for more information.
CONSERVATION AND DEMAND MANAGEMENT FORUM
The OEA brought together over 300 people with a common interest in promoting a conservation culture in Ontario at the 3rd Annual Conservation and Demand Management Forum in June 2006 in Toronto.
OTHER OEA EVENTS
The OEA organizes additional forums, technical seminars and workshops as required by our members. For example, the Ontario Energy Association and the Queen's University School of Policy Studies jointly sponsored a blue-ribbon Energy Leaders' Roundtable in Toronto on February 10, 2006. The Roundtable focused on issues, challenges and opportunities in Canada's energy sector and included panel sessions in the following four key areas:
- Oil, Natural Gas and Coal
- Renewables, Conservation and Energy Efficiency
- Pipelines, Transmission and Energy Infrastructure
- Nuclear Power
The OEA also has an Industry Dialogue Series which has proven extremely popular since its launch in May 2005. This series provides for a more focused dialogue among government, regulatory and specific OEA committee members on various policy, regulatory and other strategic issues facing the industry. It is anticipated that Industry Dialogue Series events will be held each year.
Members are also consulted on possible seminar and workshop topics through membership surveys and at committee meetings. If you have ideas or suggestions for additional events, please contact Steven Scott at (416) 961-2339 ext. 229.
Finally, the OEA also hosts three popular recreational events on an annual basis:
OEA Annual Blue Flame Bonspiel |
Annual OEA Golf Tournament |
Annual OEA Wine Tour |
